" Head Injuries, Early Symptoms, Later Symptoms"
1.) Head Injuries:
Head injuries can range anywhere from a minor blow or bump on the head to scalp wounds to internal bleeding and swelling, Because many symptoms do not develop until minutes, hours, or days later, it is important to recognize both the early and late symptoms of a head injury.
2.) Early Symptoms Include:
1.) Repeated or forceful Vomiting.
2.) Severe headache.
3.) Aggressiveness, Disorientation
4.) Drowsiness.
5.) Bleeding or clear fluid from ears or nose.
3.) Later Symptoms Include:
1.) Weakness or paralysis.
2.) Poor Coordination.
3.) Unequal pupil size
4.) Seizures
5.) Double Vision
6.) Disturbances in speech
7.) Swelling beneath the scalp.
The child's parents should be notified immediately if any of these signs develops. If the injury does not appear to be serious, ask the child to rest for a while. Be certain to monitor the child over the next several days for changes in behavior or physical status.
