: Bites:

Because serious infections may result from an insect, Animal, or Human bite, Its is important to address the wounds carefully, and to notify authorities if the bite is by an animal possibly having rabies.


    : Follow these  steps in treating animal or Human Bites:

1.) Allow the wound to bleed to remove the animal´s saliva.
2.) Use hydrogen peroxide or soap and water to clean the wound
3.) Wrap the wound and notify the parents. 

Some children have negative reactions to many insect bites, including difficulty in breathing, fever, hives and vomiting. Some allergic reactions may even cause death.


:Do The Following immediately if a child experience any negative reaction to an insect bite:  

1.) Call for emergency assistance.
2.) Keep the child calm and in a comfortable position.
3.) Administer medication in emergencies if provided by parents.

Eye Injuries:

Common eye injuries in day care facilities most often result from active play and curiosity. Eye injuries must be treated differently, depending on the accident.

If there is a foreign particle in the child´s eye:

1.) Encourage the child not to rub his/her eyes.
2.) Try to remove the particle´s by washing out the eyes,
3.) If unsuccessful, use the corner of a clean cloth or flush the eye with an eye syringe and warm water.   

If there is an object penetrating the eyeball:

1.) Do not remove the object.
2.) Place a cup or cardboard box over the object and the eye.
3.) Put a gauge pad over the other eye and affix both dressings with a bandage wrapped around the head.
4. Call for medical assistance.

If the child cuts the eye´s surface:

1.) Cover both eyes with gauze.
2.) Call for medical assistance.

If child´s ayes are chemically burned:

1.)  Have someone call for medical assistance immediately.
2.) Run warm water over eyes until medical assistance arrives

Nosebleeds:

Nosebleeds are somewhat common among young children, and are usually not serious. But if a nosebleeds lasts longer that 30 minutes, then seek medical assistance.

To Treat a Nosebleed:

1.) Do not tilt the child´s head back a sitting position is fine.
2.) Squeeze the Child´s nostrils together for at least five minutes.
3.) Apply an ice pack at the bridge of the nose if bleeding continues over 15 minutes.
4.) Seek medical assistance if bleeding persists. If bleeding stops, advise the child not to run or blow his her nose for the next few hours.

Burns:

Burns can be extremely dangerous for children because their body surfaces are so small. Use the following steps for treating burn victims.

1.) Immediately submerge the burned part in cool water for 15 to 30 minutes.
2.) Elevate the burned part.
3.) Cover the burn with sterile gauze. Do not apply ointment or creams.

Bruises:

First aid treatment for bruises is rather simple, consisting only of applying ice to the bruised area for 15 to 30 minutes, 3 or 4 times in the following 24 hours. Warm moist packs may be applied later to improve healing.

Sprains:

Sprain injuries affect the tissues around a joint. To treat a sprain, it is necessary to elevate the injured part while applying ice for several hours. Encourage the child´s parents to visit a physical for further medical assistance.

Splinters:

A  sterilized needle and tweezers are usually all that is needed to remove a splinter. After sterilizing your instruments with alcohol or a flame, wash the skin around the splinter with soap and water or alcohol, and remove the splinter. Then bandage the area.
